Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.

Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
